Lancers Inn, a living legacy of history and hospitality, traces its roots back to the 19th century when it emerged as a cherished establishment. Originally known as Trower's Store, it stood as a testament to the resilience and determination of the pioneers who settled in this area. When the Gun War of 1880 erupted, the site was reborn under the stewardship of Sir Godfrey Lagden and Alfred Sterley, who transformed and expanded the original buildings.
As time passed, Mrs. Sterley established a welcoming boarding house, which later merged with Lacey's Hotel to form the renowned Lancers Inn. The name pays homage to the 39 British Lancers who gave their lives during the Gun War.
Today, Lancers Inn remains a vibrant hub of local social activity and a cornerstone of the business community.
